In 1969 Garry Meadows began work for the Arkansas
State highway Department in the engineering department inspecting and
supervising roadway construction. By 1973, he was superintendent for
Southern Paving Construction in Pine Bluff, Arkansas responsible for
various projects ranging from $1 to $15milliion. In 1978, Garry went to
work for the City of Jonesboro as Street Superintendent. With his
extensive project management experience, Garry helped co-found Cameron
Construction in 1983.
In 1991 Garry's journey had taken him from a beginning operator, into
responsibilities of foreman to superintendent of large scale projects including
commercial site work in addition to the familiar highway department work.
Meanwhile, Rick Meadows, Garry's son and recent high school graduate, had
several summers of working for is father as a laborer and operator.
With 23 years of experience in heavy construction, Garry, along with Rick, laid
the groundwork for what is today Meadows Construction. Utilizing Garry's
wife Carolyn as bookkeeper, gradually the two hired additional staff to support
their growing efforts.
In 1994, as the street and highway project became larger, Garry and
Dale Wood as their project estimator. In 1995, Dale was added as a
stockholder. The company operated today under the direction of Garry, Rick
and Dale has the capability to fulfill the construction needs of the largest
projects brought to the area. From Humble beginnings of small equipment
jobs (with a dozer, backhoe and dump truck), the company has grown into
the largest provider of commercial site work in the Northeast Arkansas region.
In addition, Meadows Construction offers work in drainage system, highway,
street and road construction, plus airport runways.
